The AIAD intends to spearhead the fight against forgery, fraudulent misrepresentation, trafficking in stolen goods and other criminal activities, thus establishing a benchmark for the highest ethical standards in the antiquities trade. Members are urged to circulate information received from reliable sources concerning forged artefacts and stolen property.

The AIAD Secretariat provides a service to Member companies and individuals dealing in antiquities by helping to establish a favourable trading and operating environment, by providing a forum for discussion on non-competitive issues, and by providing information to assist them in the achievement of their aims.
