Joining the AIAD
Benefits of Membership
Members will be provided with information relevant to the trade from time to time, such as
– reports of changes to legislation likely to affect the trade
– reports of stolen goods,
– instances of fraud,
– conviction of forgers
and other relevant material. Dissemination of the information may be in the form of a printed newsletter or email.
The AIAD is an international antiquities dealers’ association based in the United Kingdom with members in the UK, Europe and the USA.
The Association of International Antiquities Dealers will provide a discussion forum in which Members may consult on matters of common interest for the management of the trade, including but not limited to consultation and pre-advice of legislation change, identification of malpractice in the trade, passing off of forgeries, fraudulent misrepresentation and similar matters. The forum will allow Members to pass on relevant information informally.
Membership of the Association of International Antiquities Dealers is discretionary. Members shall not have the authority to represent the Association of International Antiquities Dealers, nor to enter into any agreement on behalf of the Association.
Who may join?
Membership of the AIAD is open to companies and individuals who:
– are active dealers in the antiquities trade in their home and/or international markets
– subscribe to and apply the AIAD Code of Conduct
– have paid their annual subscription fee in full
– are not otherwise debarred from membership
Associate Membership is open to companies and individuals who:
– are not dealers in the trade but have a legitimate interest in promoting the AIAD’s aims
– have paid their annual subscription fee in full
– are not otherwise debarred from membership
Membership is at the discretion of the AIAD Executive Committee and is subject to periodic review in order to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
Membership application forms are available from the General Secretary and can also be completed on-line here. Your membership application should be seconded by an existing member, where possible.
Annual Fee
Each Member shall pay the sum of £ 170 per annum. In the event of expulsion from the AIAD, the fee is not returnable.
Each Associate Member shall pay the sum of £ 100 per annum. In the event of expulsion from the AIAD, the fee is not returnable.
The AIAD accounts and Membership year begins in July.
